Single-acting cylinders have only one pressure chamber and the force is developed in one direction only. The rod is returned by an external force.

HOW IT WORKS
- Thrust: pressurised oil enters the single chamber and pushes the rod, or plunger, in one direction only.
- Return: is driven by an external force: the weight of the load or of the slide, springs or pull-back cylinders.
In a plunger cylinder the rod itself acts as the piston: the thrust area is the cross-section of the plunger and no piston seal is needed.
CONSTRUCTION FEATURES
Simple, sturdy construction with fewer seals and components than a double-acting cylinder.
Each cylinder is custom designed, up to 2,500 mm bore and any length, with mountings and ports defined around the machine. Design is carried out in-house with FEM and fatigue analysis; testing takes place in dedicated test rigs, with static and dynamic tests up to 1,500 bar.
